The School of Business Administration welcomed digital marketing expert Dr. Sunil Gupta last night as part of Dean John Quelch’s Distinguished Leaders Lecture Series.

Past lectures have featured prominent speakers in the fields of investment management, mergers and acquisitions, and advertising and marketing. In a very intimate gathering of marketing professors and doctoral students, industry pioneers, and notable alumni, Dr. Gupta spoke eloquently and knowledgeably about the current transformation across business and society. His presentation, “Reinventing Business for the Digital Era”, focused on revolutionary businesses using technological advances to disrupt and recreate business opportunities. He discussed how digital technology influences existing business industries, including startup, established and legacy companies. Successful businesses in the future will continue to restructure, reformulate business models, and implement marketing strategies to ensure successful growth and a loyal consumer base.

Dr. Sunil Gupta is the Edward W. Carter Professor of Business Administration and Chair of the General Management Program at Harvard Business School, as well as a digital marketing expert and the co-chair of the executive program, Driving Digital Strategy. His research, recognized nationally and internationally, focuses on digital technology. He has published two books, written several articles and case studies on the subject, and has appeared on national and international news programs.

The Distinguished Leaders Lecture Series will continue next week, on December 5, featuring keynote speaker Michael Schrader, founder and CEO of Vaxess Technologies. The panel discussion will concentrate on Health Care Entrepreneurship from both new and experienced perspectives.
