Explore events to celebrate Disabilities in the Workplace Awareness Month

Center for Autism and Related Disabilities: Creating an Inclusive Workplace
Thursday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m.
Facilitated by Diane Adreon, division director of transition and adult programs for the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD), this virtual session will share expert insights and guidance regarding autism in the workplace and resources available through UM-NSU CARD. Myths and Truths Surrounding the Disability Community
Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m.
Join a thought-provoking webinar discussion aimed at challenging assumptions on disabilities. Led by the Mailman Center for Childhood Development, this session will be facilitated by Shelly Baer, director of leadership training initiatives; Jairo Arana, clinical program coordinator and graduate of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities self-advocate program; and Joanne Palenzuela, manager of social services. Reasonable Accommodations under the American Disabilities Act 
Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m.
During this online session, Savoy Smith III, manager of employee accommodations, will provide a general overview of reasonable accommodations in the workplace under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Join the session.

Tech That Works for U:  Microsoft Office 365 Accessibility Tools for More Effective and Inclusive Communications
Thursday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m.
In the upcoming virtual Tech Talk, Microsoft experts will teach participants how to use Microsoft Office’s built-in accessibility tools to create inclusive and accessible content for people with vision, hearing, cognition, and mobility impairments. Register now.

Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m.
Walk through the state-of-the-art rehabilitation center, which welcomes visitors with varying levels of mobility. All participants are required to wear a mask while indoors. Reserve your spot.

Disabilities Awareness and Inclusion Panel: Disabilities in the Workplace Awareness Month
Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 p.m.
Join a lively and informative online conversation on disability awareness and inclusion. Panelists will reveal what it’s like to navigate spaces with a disability and share practical advice on how to create a workplace that welcomes people with all abilities so everyone can contribute their best. Disability Network Alliance ERG first year anniversary update and a Look Ahead

Join members of the Disability Network Alliance as they celebrate their first anniversary as an ERG. Webinar participants will learn about the group’s mission, connect with members, and learn how to get involved and support disability inclusion.
