RAD-UM brings AR experience to Chicago Architecture Biennial

The architecture community converged on the 2017 CAB in Chicago, opening September 15th and continuing until January 7th, 2018
RAD-UM brings AR experience to Chicago Architecture Biennial

RAD-UM was at the rendezvous with a high-tech contribution to Khoury Levit Fong’s installation in the Chicago Cultural Centre, the main venue of the Biennial. The installation is a remake of KLF’s Type-Topia that premiered at Meeting House in Fall 2016. RAD-UM recast Type-Topia as a mixed-reality experience with a virtual environment accessible through programmed digital tablets. The digital overlay staged by RAD-UM substitutes for the physical model of an imaginary city where 3D-Printed models of speculative projects by KLF, conceived for different sites around the world, are united in a single urban context.

RAD-UM will adapt and redeploy the AR experience developed and tested at CAB for the forthcoming Miami High-Rise exhibition curated by Eric Firley and designed by Germane Barnes at MCAD.
