The University’s Pride Awareness Week (PAW) kicked off on Monday with a visit from five dogs who, courtesy of the PAWS 4 You Rescue organization, romped on the green looking loveable and adoptable. The celebration continues all week with a series of events sponsored by SpectrUM, the student organization that promotes friendship, education, and acceptance by straight and LGBTQ members of the campus community.

The events include on:

Tuesday, March 4, a discussion, YES Institute Speaks on Being Queer, at 8 p.m., in Ballroom C, on the second floor of the University Center;

Wednesday, March 5, an LGBTQ Media Panel, at 8 p.m. in the East Ballroom, on the third floor of the Student Activities Center;

Thursday, March 6, Trans-Night, when all are invited to join Save DADE in a discussion on trans people in society, and a viewing of the movie Diagnosing Difference, at 7 p.m. in Ballroom D, on the second floor of University Center;

Friday, March 7, Marriages on the Rock, to raise awareness and stand up for marriage equality, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Rock. Rings and ceremonious fanfare will be provided.
