For the sixth consecutive year, the University of Miami is ranked in the top 50 inU.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Colleges” issue for 2015. UM comes in at No. 48 in the “Best National Universities” category, further solidifying its status as a top-tier national institution.
The U.S. News rankings are based on several key measures, such as graduation and retention rates, assessment by peers and counselors, faculty resources, student selectivity, and alumni giving.
“The University of Miami takes pride in the diversity, excellence, and successes of our student body. We have taken strategic steps to improve student selectivity, retention, and graduation rates, all of which are reflected in the U.S. News and World Report data,” said Thomas J. LeBlanc, UM executive vice president and provost. “UM will continue to focus on attracting top students, providing them with a world-class educational experience and doing everything possible to ensure that they graduate with a University of Miami degree.”
The University’s No. 48 ranking comes on the heels of its Bascom Palmer Eye Institute being rated the nation’s No. 1 ophthalmology program for the eleventh consecutive year in U.S. News’s annual “Best Hospitals” rankings.
