International Week Celebrates Cultural Diversity Around the World

Featuring ethnic foods, native dress, music, and celebrations, International Week has turned the Student Center Complex Patio into a showcase of world cultures as the University of Miami celebrates International Week through Friday, April 10.

Organized by the Council of International Students and Organizations (COISO), “I-Week 2015: Celebrations! The World’s A Party” kicked off Monday with Latin America and Caribbean Day and continued on Wednesday with Middle Eastern-focused festivities, giving students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to experience the cultures of those regions.

Asia, Europe and Africa, and Island Styles round out the week's themes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, respectively.

Daily activities are held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with evening shows from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on the patio.

This year's I-Week centers on the idea that despite the world’s differences, celebrations are one way for everyone to connect and bond, according to COISO’s Facebook page.
