From the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables to the iconic Freedom Tower in downtown Miami, some of South Florida’s most recognizable structures are being bathed in orange and green lights to mark the inauguration of University of Miami President Julio Frenk.

Frenk, the former Harvard dean and minister of health of Mexico, will be installed as UM’s sixth president on Friday, January 29 at UM’s BankUnited Center. His term in office actually began last August.

Other structures that have already been or will be illuminated in UM’s familiar orange and green colors include University of Miami Hospital and the 47-story Miami Tower (formerly the CenTrust Tower) in central downtown.

Meanwhile, Port Miami and Miami International Airport are rolling out special signage congratulating Frenk on his investiture, with the former also illuminating its terminal lights in UM colors. And soon, Uber passengers in Coral Gables who open the company’s app will get a message applauding Frenk’s historic moment.
