UM Selects Investment Advisory Firm

U.S. Trust will provide advisory services for UM’s long-term growth portfolio.

The University of Miami has selected U.S. Trust’s investments and philanthropic solutions group to provide investment advisory services for the University’s approximately $920 million long-term growth portfolio.  The University awarded the advisory role to U.S. Trust following a competitive and comprehensive search process.

For the 12-month period ended February 28, 2017, the University of Miami’s Investment Office produced an increase of nearly 19 percent for the long-term growth portfolio.

"While we are pleased with our positive results, the Investment Office recognizes the need for global research capabilities in order to rise to the challenge of sustaining this performance across potential market fluctuations,” said Geoffrey Kirles, University of Miami Vice President of Investments and Treasurer.  “We are excited for the addition of U.S. Trust to supplement the University of Miami’s investment team.”

“We are honored that the University of Miami has entrusted us to play a role in fulfilling their important mission,” said Ann Limberg, head of philanthropic solutions and the family office at U.S. Trust. “At U.S. Trust, our top priority is helping clients meet their organization’s goals through a breadth and depth of sophisticated, fiduciary services delivered by experienced professionals.”

“The University of Miami is the latest example of a growing trend among large institutions to seek flexible and collaborative investment partners to serve as an extension of their in-house staff and resources,” said Bernie Reidy, National Philanthropic Sales Executive at U.S. Trust.

The University of Miami is a private research university with more than 16,000 students from around the world.  UM is a vibrant and diverse academic community focused on teaching and learning, the discovery of new knowledge, and service to the South Florida region and beyond.
