Ensuring safety at UM: Florida Department of Transportation asks for input from those who commute to campus via US1.

University Station

The University of Miami and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a pop-up event at the University Center Canopy (next to Lime Mexican Grill) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, September 10 to get the University community’s input on how FDOT can provide safer measures for those who travel along the US1 corridor on a daily basis.

The event is part of the outreach program of the US1 corridor study, and UM is engaged to provide input on the importance of safety measures along the corridor for all students, faculty and staff who commute to campus.

The corridor study will include input from the City of Miami, Village of Pinecrest, City of South Miami and the City of Coral Gables.

The University hopes feedback from the outreach program will help inform FDOT on developing their pedestrian and vehicular safety program in the area.
