The University of Miami and Magic Leap, an entrepreneurial company based in Plantation, Florida, have joined forces to introduce a new era of education around spatial computing and mixed reality, bridging the digital and physical worlds.

Magic Leap announced the burgeoning academic partnership with UM at its developer’s conference in Los Angeles in October, where it explained the ever-shifting reality they are pioneering is a “Magicverse”—considered “a system of systems bridging the physical world and the digital world.” The academic partnership is expected to explore applications in spatial computing that will revolutionize the way the world learns.

Demos of the Magic Leap product will be offered next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Nov. 13-15, at the School of Architecture and the Wellness Center. In the demonstrations, visitors will have the opportunity to try the Magic Leap One Creator Edition, a lightweight wearable computer that enriches your experience in the real world with digital content. On Tuesday, Sam Miller, a former NASA scientist and founding member of Magic Leap, will offer a lecture on spatial computing.

Whether you are studying in the fields of medicine, architecture, engineering or the arts and humanities, the demos provide a glimpse into the future of learning and education.

Space is limited. Information on signing up for the demo and lecture can be found here.
