What’s happening on campus during spring break

The spring recess takes place from March 9 to 17, with most students and faculty away from campus for various activities, research, travel, and fun. Campus services are pared down, as well. Here’s a list of what’s open and what’s closed on the University of Miami Coral Gables campus during spring break.

Parking Zone Colors Lifted:

  • Parking Zone color restrictions for spring break will be lifted from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15, with the exception of the purple zone.
  • During this period, a parking permit is still required to park on campus between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.
  • Nights and weekend permits are only valid between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weeknights, as well as any time during the weekend.
  • The parking zone color restrictions will be reinstated on Monday, March 18.

Transportation:

  • Hurry ‘Canes Shuttle will be running on a limited schedule between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Each route will have an 18 to 20 minute wait time.

Dining on Campus:  

Wondering if your favorite eatery will be open? We’ve got you covered. Check out the dining hours schedule for the Food Court, Dining Halls, the Shalala Student Center and other retail operations. Select dining services will be open on an reduced schedule. Some important things to note:

  • The faculty club will be closed for the week and will reopen on Monday, March 18.
  • Mahoney-Pearson Dining Hall will be open for dinner on Sunday, March 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • On Sunday, March 17, Hecht-Stanford Dining Hall will be opened late from 9 p.m. to midnight .

Pura Vida:

  • Operating on normal business hours.

Bookstore:

The UM Bookstore will be open Saturdays, March 9 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 11 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The bookstore will be closed on Sundays, March 10 and 17 and will reopen on normal business hours Monday, March 18.

Wellness Center:

  • Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Weekend 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Otto G. Richter Library:

  • Sunday, March 10: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday through Thursday, March 11 to March 14: 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, March 15: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 16: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Counseling Center:

  • Monday through Friday, March 11 to March 15: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Student Health Center:

  • Monday through Friday, March 11 to March 15: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Donna E. Shalala Student Center:

  • Tuesday through Saturday, March 10 to March 16: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
