In just 10 days, the University of Miami will showcase groundbreaking projects and tools that are pushing the boundaries of research, learning, and innovation during the two-day eMerge Americas event, Miami’s largest tech conference that will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center on April 29-30. 

This guide outlines all the different ways you can connect with the University during the event, which is free to attend for UM students, faculty, and staff.  

Your UM guide to eMerge Americas 2019:

Learn more about how UM is using big data to accurately forecast the weather and even create permanent affordable housing solutions for residents of Miami-Dade County. From new treatment strategies used to relieve a spectrum of diseases to model systems that mimic how human organs function, there’s a lot to learn about UM’s role in shaping the educational revolution.

topics. 

The Future of ‘Internet of Things’

Understand how IoT will create more data-driven digital experiences for companies and how companies can prepare for the changes IoT brings to their business. Provost Jeffrey Duerk joins other expert speakers to discuss how IoT technology will continue to shape the business landscape over the next five years.

A Comprehensive Approach: Building Education Systems for Innovation in the Americas

The panel discussion, moderated by UM President Julio Frenk, will bring together a distinguished set of speakers from academia, government, venture capital firms, philanthropists, private sector institutions, and international and non-governmental organizations to discuss the issues surrounding the building of education systems to promote and advance innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

The University of Miami and eMerge Americas partnered to feature entrepreneurial talent from across the hemisphere at the conference. These entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas at the Global Startup Showcase. 

Attend the Design Your Coral Gables: Smart City Solutions Competition

The University of Miami and the City of Coral Gables are hosting a competition aimed at helping the city be smarter, more sustainable, and more efficient. UM students are expected to present their ideas on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Miami Beach Convention Center. 

Hear CoE students pitch at the Inaugural Florida Intercollegiate Competition in Technological Innovation

UM College of Engineering students will join other student teams from Florida universities to pitch their innovation projects to an expert panel on Tuesday, April 30 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Miami Beach Convention Center (room 211).
