Edgar Bronfman Jr., a scion of Seagram Company, has a wide and multifaceted career in business. His current positions include general partner, chairman, and co-founder of Waverley Capital, a venture capital firm focused on the disruption and innovation occurring in the media industry. He also is executive chairman of fuboTV, a livestreaming service.
Bronfman will share his experiences during an online lecture hosted by the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School on Thursday, June 25.
Also the executive chairman of Global Thermostat LLC, which is developing and commercializing a technology for the direct capture of carbon dioxide, he also is chairman of Endeavor Global, a non-profit organization pioneering a new approach to international development.
Leaving his studies at Harvard to pursue a career in film and music—he produced two British films and wrote a hit song for Celine Dion—Bronfman eventually accepted his father’s request to join the family firm in the early 1980s. He was named CEO of Seagram in 1994.
He served as CEO of Warner Brothers Music Group from 2004–2011 and chair from 2011–2012. Under his leadership, the company was listed in 2007 in Fortune Magazine's “Most Admired Companies;” and in 2009, it was named among “The World's 50 Most Innovative Companies” by Fast Company magazine—the first music company to earn the distinction.
