With the start of the spring semester Monday, the University of Miami has issued important protocols for students—including arrival testing for COVID-19—that must be followed in order to attend classes and participate in other activities.

Please note:

All students are required to test negative for COVID-19 before attending any in-person classes, programs, or work shifts on any University of Miami campus.

Individuals who have received the COVID-19 vaccine are still required to complete arrival testing and to participate in weekly testing throughout the semester.

Here are details about how you can ensure you are in compliance with this mandatory testing requirement.

NON-RESIDENT STUDENTS

  • Students who live off campus should allow sufficient time to be tested and receive their results prior to their first on-campus class, program, or work shift. Testing is available this weekend to accommodate students who need testing prior to the start of classes on Monday.
  • Walk-up testing is available, without an appointment, at Pavia Garage on Friday, Jan. 22, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 23, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, Jan. 25, begins weekly testing appointments for students.

SYMPTOM CHECKER AND ENFORCEMENT

  • All students planning to be present on any University of Miami campus or access any University facilities must complete the daily symptom checker each day and abide by the instructions provided.
  • A new question has been added to ensure compliance with the mandatory arrival testing requirement.
  • Students who provide false or misleading information will face disciplinary action.
  • A “Good to Go” symptom checker status will be required to enter University facilities or to attend any in-person classes, programs, or work shifts.
  • The symptom checker can be found at miami.edu/daily-symptom-checker or on the UMiami mobile app.

STUDENTS WHO HAVE TESTED POSITIVE SINCE NOV. 1

  • Any student who has tested positive for COVID-19 on or since Nov. 1 is exempt from the arrival testing requirement.
  • Students who tested outside of the University must upload proof of their positive result to Student Health Service.

ONGOING TESTING THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER

  • Any student who will be on any University of Miami campus at any point during the spring semester will be required to take a COVID-19 test at least once every week through the UScreen Testing Initiative.
