The USpeak Flash Fiction & Poetry Performance Series takes places Monday, March 21 at Books & Books in Coral Gables
USpeak

The Creative Writing Program at the University of Miami (UM) College of Arts & Sciences is launching the spring issue of Mangrove, a collection of literary works from current undergraduate students and alumni, at the USpeak open mic event on March 21.

Mangrove is UM’s literary journal featuring fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and art from current undergraduate students and recent alumni from a variety of majors and schools across the country. Sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences’ English Department, Mangrove is edited and designed by an undergraduate staff. Jaswinder Bolina, an assistant professor in the Creative Writing program, manages and advises the journal.

At the USpeak event, staff will read from their favorite entries published in Mangrove, and students and members of the community will take to the mic to share their stories, poetry and literary works with the audience. The University of Miami is pairing up with Books & Books in Coral Gables, located at 265 Aragon Avenue, to host the USpeak events.

The USpeak Flash Fiction & Poetry Performance Series starts at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. USpeak is sponsored in part by the English Department's Creative Writing Program at the University of Miami College of Arts & Science, the Mangrove Literary Journal and Books & Books.
