In 2005, Vice Dean Abril joined the Miami Business School as a professor in the Business Law Department. She quickly proved herself, demonstrating her talents in the classroom, interactive teaching style, and care for her students. Her popular courses include all aspects of business law, business ethics, and negotiation.
Each year, full-time faculty are encouraged to nominate other full-time faculty members for three separate awards given out by the Faculty Senate, including the Outstanding Teaching Award.
According to the University’s Faculty Manual, a committee consisting of the last five awardees, along with the Provost and Faculty Senate Chair, who serve as ex-officio non-voting members, review the submitted nominations. The committee then provides a report and makes a recommendation to the Faculty Senate for selection.
This academic year has been special for Vice Dean Abril, who was named Vice Dean of Graduate Business Programs in July, and was recently tapped into the University’s Iron Arrow Honor Society.
