’94 MBS Alumna Afi Johnson-Parris Recognized as NC “Super Lawyer”

Afi Johnson-Parris, a board-certified Family Law Specialist, was named in 2017 as the statewide “Legal Elite” Winner for family law by Business North Carolina magazine.

“Basic business skills are the foundation of what I do as a divorce lawyer,” said Johnson-Parris. “Dissolving a marital estate is a lot like liquidating a business. My foundation is built on what I learned at Miami.”

Selection to North Carolina Super Lawyers is based first on input from lawyers across the state. Each candidate is evaluated for twelve indicators of “peer recognition and professional achievement,” such as experience, awards and recognitions and their client list. Finally, a panel of respected and experienced legal peers evaluates the candidates within their own area of expertise.  This process narrows the list to the top 5 percent of the attorneys in North Carolina.

“This recognition would not be possible without the support of our incredible team here at Ward Black Law,” said Janet Ward Black, co-Super Lawyer recipient and founder of Ward Black Law in Greensboro, NC.  “It’s an honor for Afi and me to be acknowledged by our peers in the legal community in this way. We are so grateful.”

The firm represents people in accident injury, workers’ compensation, asbestos litigation, defective products, family law, veterans’ disability, and other matters. For more about Ward Black Law, visit www.wardblacklaw.com.
