Hornilla plans to graduate in 2020 with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering, with a minor in mathematics. She has consistently been listed on the Dean’s Lists, and recently received her Six Sigma Green Belt Certification in January. Hornilla landed a summer internship position at NBCUniversal in 2018 in their Media Tech Internship program, and will be a technical support intern this summer at Citrix Systems, Inc. Hornilla is involved in numerous clubs including the IISE student chapter, Engineering Student Ambassadors, President’s 100 and Alpha Phi Omega. Additionally, Hornilla participated in a study abroad program in Florence, Italy after her freshman year.
Scholarship recipients are nominated by IISE department heads, IISE student chapter advisors, IISE faculty or by SHS board members, SHS diplomats or SHS senior members. The scholarship, sponsored by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, is awarded to an undergraduate student who is an active SHS student member; has an overall GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale; and enrolled full-time.

The SHS is a professional association that serves the needs of industrial engineers throughout the world. The society’s mission is to improve lives through better healthcare delivery.
