School salutes pioneering black graduate

Benny O’Berry was the first Black student to graduate from the University of Miami, earning his B.S.Ed. degree from then School of Education in 1962. He became a successful businessman and was a longtime pastor at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Miami.
