Alumnus Joshua Henry presents “Broadway Unplugged”

Broadway talent, alumnus Joshua Henry returns to UM for an evening of theater songs and backstage stories.

The University of Miami is excited to announce the return of alumnus Joshua Henry (B.M. ‘06) for an evening of theater songs and backstage stories on Sunday, April 10th at 8 PM in Gusman Hall (1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables). The event called “Broadway Unplugged” is a fundraiser to benefit his N.Y. theater company – Jaradoa Theater.

Originally from Miami, FL, Henry recently starred in Broadway’s The Scottsboro Boys as Haywood Patterson – a young African-American man falsely accused of raping a white woman in 1931 Alabama. Previously, he was featured in the original Broadway cast of In the Heights and American Idiot, and in the City Center production of The Wiz. He also appeared in Paper Mill Playhouse's Godspell.

His rapid rise is hardly unusual for UM’s theater alums, who come from both the Frost School of Music’s Musical Theatre program and the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Theatre Arts.

“Broadway Unplugged” will also feature Anika Larsen (Rent, Xanadu, Avenue Q), Telly Leung (Pacific Overtures, Rent, TV’s Glee), Shelley Thomas (Brooklyn, Rent, Zanna, Don't!), and on the piano, Nils Olaf Dolven (Serenade, Beatles).

Tickets for the evening event are $35 general admission/$20 UM students prior to performance date; $40 general admission/$25 UM students if purchased at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased.
