University of Miami School of Law professor Kunal Parker, associate dean for Intellectual Life and Dean’s Distinguished Scholar, has been invited to serve as a Beatrice Webb Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). This highly competitive professorship is a distinct honor, as it is based exclusively on nominations from LSE faculty members to recognize scholars whose work has reached a level of global significance. Unlike typical visiting roles, the Beatrice Webb Professorship does not accept applications; instead, it identifies leaders in their fields to enrich the academic and research life of the LSE Law School.
The professorship is named in honor of Beatrice Webb, a groundbreaking social reformer and co-founder of the LSE, whose legacy of rigorous social investigation and commitment to justice remains a cornerstone of the institution. Parker, a renowned scholar in legal history and theory, is ideally suited for this residency. His presence at LSE is intended to enrich the school's research culture through high-level workshops and events that spark intellectual exchange among faculty and peers.
During his visit, which is anticipated for March 2027, Parker will also focus on the student experience, contributing to the academic life of the law school through seminars and engagement that offer students a unique perspective on global legal issues. His role as a visiting scholar facilitates vital transatlantic dialogue, allowing him to share his expertise while fostering new benefits and research connections within the LSE community.
Parker's teaching areas and interests include American Legal History, Estates and Trusts, Immigration and Nationality Law, and Property.
