Be sure to see our quick checklist of tax-related items prior to Dec. 31. We’re sharing important tips about reviewing your W-4 for the 2019 tax year, renewing your W-4 exempt status—which must be done annually—and submitting forms if you’re an international employee with a visa. Finding food on campus
Now through Sunday, Jan. 13
Looking to grab a bite on the Gables campus? Check out the dining hours before heading out to the residential dining halls, food court, or retail options. Additionally, the Gables’ Faculty Club closes Thursday, Dec. 13 and reopens Monday, Jan. 14. In Virginia Key, SALT Waterfront Restaurant and the Wetlab close Monday, Dec. 24 and reopen Wednesday, Jan. 2. Everyone’s favorite Well ’Canes markets will continue operating on Thursdays at the Miller School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays at the Lennar Foundation Medical Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Wednesday market adjacent to the Foote University Green will take a break and return on Jan. 16. Lifting parking zones colors
Now through Sunday, Jan. 13
On the Gables campus, parking color zone restrictions were lifted last Wednesday, Dec. 5, with the exception of the purple zone. Parking zone color restrictions will be reinstated Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, when classes resume for the spring semester. For parking questions, please call 305-284-3096 and select option two. Special hours of operation and closures
Wednesday, Dec. 12 through Sunday, Jan. 13
The Lowe art museum closes Saturday, Dec. 22 and reopens Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. UM Libraries will also modify their hours of operation starting Wednesday, Dec. 13. Calder library on the medical campus maintains normal hours but will close Tuesday, Dec. 25. Other popular spots like the Herbert Wellness Center and UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center shift their schedule during winter break. Call ahead or check online to confirm hours and closures for any venue or business you’re planning to visit.


Shuttle route schedule shifts
Thursday, Dec. 13 through Sunday, Jan. 13
Starting Dec. 13, the Gables’ on-campus Hurry ’Cane shuttle will adjust its schedule until the start of classes on Jan. 14, 2019. During this time, the shuttle will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with an expected wait time between 18 and 20 minutes. Track shuttle movement at umshuttles.com and check the schedule for details about the SafeRide service, GOT, Gables, and RSMAS campus hours of operation.
