A psychology major may understand what motivates people. An engineering graduate knows how to solve complex problems. An international relations student brings a global perspective. A new graduate program at the University of Miami Business School will help students from a range of academic backgrounds turn those skills into a foundation for a career in business.
The 10-month, 33-credit Master of Science in Management will welcome its first class in fall 2027. Designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals with zero to three years of work experience, the program does not require previous business coursework.
“The Master of Science in Management is an especially strong option for students who have developed expertise in areas such as engineering, the arts or the sciences and want to complement that knowledge with a broad business foundation,” said Linda Neider, professor and chair of the Department of Management and director of the program. “The program gives students the management skills needed to expand their career opportunities while allowing them to build on the perspective and knowledge they already bring from their undergraduate studies.”
Students will develop skills in leadership, strategy, operations, finance and analytics before tailoring their studies through one of six concentrations, including artificial intelligence and supply chain management.
The hybrid format combines in-person instruction with flexible coursework while maintaining opportunities for students to engage directly with faculty and classmates.
The program also reflects growing employer demand for skills that extend across industries and functions. Problem-solving, communication, strategic thinking and leadership consistently rank among the capabilities employers value in new graduates, while business and management occupations are projected to generate significant employment opportunities over the coming decade.
