With a foundation in principles of mutual understanding, co-creation, and sharing, WIEE’s stated ambition is to “facilitate global innovation exchanges and cooperation, promote the development of scientific and technological achievements, create cooperation platforms, cultivate innovation and entrepreneurship talent, and enable socio-economic transformation.”

The University of Miami has a strong presence at the Expo with an exhibition showcasing the collaborative work of the School of Architecture’s RAD lab and the Center for Computational Science. The project explores applications of emergent technology in the build environment, form smart cities to drone-propelled parasols. Rodolphe el-Khoury, Dean of the School of Architecture was invited to participate in the Future Education Summit, one of the symposia in week-long program of events and performances staged by Zaoju, China’s answer to TED Talks. The Miami delegation also included Rodrigo Arboleda, Co-Founder and CEO of Fast Track Institute and Rodrigo Veloso, Founder and CEO of O.N.E. World Enterprises. Both are members of the School of Architecture’s Visiting Committee. Mayor Gimenez addressed the international delegations at the launch ceremony with a video message, offering Miami as a host city for WIEE in the future.
