UM Alumna and PR Maven honored by Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce

The name Tara Solomon resonates with Miami Beach residents of the 90s and early 2000s. Best known for her vintage Miami Herald column Queen of the Night, Tara has spent the better part of the last three decades making a name for herself in the South Florida community, and beyond. The UM alumna, who graduated in 1982 from the School of Communication, has graced the pages of Miami publications like the Miami New Times, Brickell Magazine, and Ocean Drive, and for nearly twenty years she’s run her own business. Tara’s name is synonymous with style - she’s known for her glamorous wardrobe, always complete with a chic pair of heels and extravagant jewelry - though it’s her intelligence that gives her an edge.

Together with business partner and fiancé Nick D’Annunzio, she founded one of Miami’s most highly lauded luxury boutique public relations firms, Tara, Ink., with offices headquartered in Miami Beach. Her client list is enough to make even the most well-connected PR mavens envious, including work with Chanel, Hermès and YSL, to name a few. She also recently opened an office in New York.

On June 3, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce honored Tara for her work in tourism. She received the Excellence in Tourism Award at the chamber’s 95th Annual Gala at the Loews on Miami Beach. In a 2010 interview with the Miami New Times she said, “I would like to be remembered as a person who was part of the puzzle that helped to create a global destination out of a little patch of beach full of rundown art deco buildings.”

Tara has made it her business to know and be known in a city that’s as unpredictable as it is humid, but behind the layers of glam and glitz, killer rouge and a perfectly coifed mane, she’s a proud Miami Hurricane from the laid back Gulf Coast beaches of Fort Myers.
