The Golden Ibis Society is a long-standing campus honorary society that recognizes UM graduates from 1926 to 1967. The Golden Ibis Society was started in 1975 by the late Ruth Linder Sutton, AB ’30, and was led for 22 years by Helene Putnam Kichefski, BBA ’42, and continues to be an unforgettable event during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming. Gather among friends for the celebration, including the induction of our newest members, the Class of 1967, a performance by students of the Frost School of Music and a plated dinner!

The Audrey R. Finkelstein UM Experience will feature ’Cane Talks enhancing the tradition established by Audrey R. Finkelstein of providing lively learning experiences during Alumni Weekend. The 2017 UM Experience will give you a behind-the-scenes look at some of the university’s cutting edge work at three sessions, at different campus locations. Each session, a 10-minute ’Cane Talk by a UM faculty member or student will give you a window into the latest ground breaking work at UM. Each talk will be followed by a chance for Q and A and a tour of UM’s innovative teaching and research facilities. All sessions are complimentary. Join us for one or all three!

Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2017 is marked by the celebrations of class and affinity reunions. This year, the University of Miami celebrates graduates of the Class of 2007! Join fellow alumni from the Class of 2007 for a welcome reception with light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails as you get ready for an evening of Homecoming activities including the parade and the boat burning and fireworks show at the Alumni Lounge! Jon Beason, ‘06
As a member of the University of Miami football team from 2003 to 2006, Beason recorded 187 tackles, 3.5 quarterback sacks and one interception. Beason was drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, where he began a nine year NFL career that included three Pro Bowl selections, and being recognized as a First-team All-Pro in 2008 and a Second-team All-Pro in 2009.
Beason continues to be a proud supporter of the University of Miami, having recently donated $250,000 toward construction of the Carol Soffer Football Indoor Practice Facility. In recognition of his generous gift, the new indoor practice facility will include the Jon Beason Defensive Team Meeting Room.
