The University of Miami Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music is celebrating the 16th anniversary of the Frost Young Musicians’ Camp. This innovative summer music camp was created in 2000 by UM alumni, Sarah Neham Salz, and her late husband, guitarist Simon Salz. Students ages 7-18, from all over the US and abroad, can select Programs in Classical Music, Jazz: Instrumental and Voice, Rock, Musical Theater, or Contemporary Songwriting and Composition. Last summer, over 400 young musicians had the opportunity to study with faculty from the Frost School of Music, as well as with graduate students, alumni, and concert artists. Special Master Classes are given by Frost School of Music Dean, Shelly Berg, as well as by members of the Frost School of Music faculty.
The Camp’s Programs are offered to students in various levels including Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Of special interest to highly talented music students is the Advanced/Honors program, where students are coached in small groups by our special Honors faculty. Over the years, many campers have continued this connection to the Frost School of Music by choosing to apply to UM for college.
Bus Transportation from Miami-Dade and Broward counties is available, as well as a supervised Teen Dormitory program.
The camp will hold 2 two week sessions: Session A: June 13-June 24 and Session B: June 27-July 8.
