During finals weeks, the University opens up many areas around campus for studying, review sessions, and extra help. Whether you are studying with friends or need some silent time alone, there are spaces that can accommodate whatever you need.

On Tuesday, April 29, the university will hold a reading day where students can focus on studying, as classes won’t be held.  During the day, students have a variety of on campus locations to study. The Shalala Student Center will be converting a majority of their conference rooms into quiet study spaces for students. Whitten UC will also have a variety of spaces available on the second floor. If students are looking to study outside, hammocks are available in front of the Frost Institute for Chemistry & Molecular Science.

Along with typical study spots, like the library and the many gliders across campus, the Herbert Wellness Center has opened an amazing space for relaxation—a meditation room. Students can head to the second floor of the Wellness Center for a quiet space that includes a meditation playlist and a RelaxSpace Pod, a covered recliner that is designed to reduce stress for relaxation and mindfulness. The space will be completely silent specifically dedicated to relaxation and destress in between study sessions. Students can visit the Herbert Wellness Center from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Housing and Residential Life and Residential Faculty will be holding this year’s award-winning program, Finish Strong, on Tuesday, April 29 in Lakeside Village. This program allows students an opportunity to take part in extra study sessions across a variety of classes. Camner Center for Academic Resources will have tutors available after a few sessions. To find out what courses will be having studying session, take a look at the schedule here, as well as digital signage across campus. Students also have access to various study spots within residential colleges. These hidden gems, open 24/7, give students the opportunity to study without going into their room but still having the privacy needed to focus.

The University has a variety of options for students to utilize during the craziness of finals, so be sure to take advantage.
