On April 5, the University of Miami will kick off the 2018 Sport Industry Conference with keynote speaker Maria Taylor, ESPN sports analyst.

Maria Taylor is in her third season as a college analyst and reporter since joining ESPN and SEC Network in 2014. In 2017, Taylor was named a reporter for College GameDayBuilt by Home Depot and ABC Saturday Night Football. Prior to that, she served as the host of SEC Network’s traveling pregame show SEC Nation, alongside analysts Tim Tebow, Marcus Spears, and Paul Finebaum.

In addition to her football duties, Taylor is a host of Big Monday and NCAA Women’s Final Four studio coverage. She also serves as a sideline reporter for men’s basketball and is an analyst on other SEC and ESPN telecasts, including volleyball and women’s basketball.

“You don’t want to be just one thing. I like the opportunity to flex different muscles,” Taylor said on The Learning Leader Show about her versatility as a broadcaster.

In 2015, Taylor co-founded The Winning Edge Leadership Academy, a non-profit organization with the mission to educate, foster professional mentoring relationships, and provide networking opportunities and enrichment scholarships to ethnic minorities and women who are seeking careers in the sports industry.

Taylor holds an undergraduate degree in broadcast news and an MBA from the University of Georgia, where she played volleyball and basketball. Given her impressive career, sports, and academic experiences, she is sure to have lots of wisdom to share with attendees of the 2018 Sport Industry Conference.

Presented by the University of Miami, School of Law’s Entertainment & Sports Law Society, and the School of Education & Human Development’s Sports Administration Program, the two-day event held at the Coral Gables campus will focus on the areas of both law and business. The conference was designed with networking in mind, giving students, alumni, and business and legal professionals many opportunities to meet and interact.
