Filmmaker and photographer Fareed Al-Mashat cherishes his roots, sprouted here in the School of Architecture at the University of Miami. It was there that he discovered his passion for film and storytelling, eventually earning a BFA in Motion Picture Studies. A longtime Miami resident, Fareed currently calls Miami home.

Al-Mashat earned accolades and honors for his 20-minute theatrical film short, The Price, including a screening at the Miami International Film Festival, The American Film Institute’s Los Angeles Film Festival, The Oberhausen and Edinburgh International Film Festivals. Al-Mashat also has earned numerous industry and film festival awards for his work as a director—including The Critic’s Choice Award for Best Short Film at The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and the Silver Prize at The Houston International Film Festival.
