Why did you choose to attend UM?

I was born and raised in Miami, and although I attended Tulane University in New Orleans  for my undergraduate degree, I knew I would ultimately come back to this dynamic city. When I was considering law schools, the University of Miami was at the top of my list ― not only because it meant coming home, but because of the UM J.D./M.B.A. program’s exceptional faculty, prestigious reputation and international mix of students.

In 2009, I graduated from the J.D./M.B.A. program with a strong focus on business law. During my time at UM, I took many classes on real estate and construction law, as well as negotiation/business law. Today, the skills I developed in this program help me every day in my line of work.

How has your degree contributed to your success in innovative real estate?

The J.D./M.B.A. degree has played a critical role in my career. Although I’m not practicing law, the research analysis and persuasive writing skills that I developed during law school have allowed me to stand out in my field. I developed a marketing/branding expertise during the MBA program which has helped me compete at the top of the luxury real estate industry.

In addition to the training I received and the skillsets I developed during my time at University of Miami, the alumni community has been very supportive. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with many UM alumni, and I have been presented with great opportunities from people I met during my time at UM.

You are community focused; why is that important for yours and all generations?

I’ve always understood the importance of volunteering and giving back to our community. It is a value that I inherited from my parents, which has been part of my life since a very young age. I think creating a sense of community based on charitable efforts makes work and life more fulfilling. It’s a quality that has encouraged balance in my life, and I feel that it should be encouraged from a young age. I believe we all have a responsibility to help those who are less fortunate.
