Landon Coles: Scholarships and Defining the "Grey Area"

Landon Coles has a long list of notable accolades at the University of Miami, from his work as a sophomore class senator for Student Government and his position as an assistant in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

“Every day I am so grateful,” said Landon Coles,a Ronald A. Hammond Scholar majoring in political science in the College of Arts and Sciences. “I have been granted self-agency to chart my own path here at the University and beyond.” Landon Coles has a long list of notable accolades at the University of Miami, from his work as a sophomore class senator for Student Government and his position as an assistant in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Landon is dedicated to impacting not only the University community, but also the broaders community. He often speaks of the impact his scholarship had on his ability to join us at the University and shine a light on the "grey area" - those middle-class families who "do well, but not well enough to afford college outright, but then not so bad to the point where they can't qualify for this financial based need to cover college as a whole."
