Colleen Fitzpatrick, M.D. ’99

We thank Colleen Fitzpatrick, M.D. ’99, a pediatric surgeon in St. Louis, MO who decided to serve in adult COVID-19 units at Syosset Hospital, Syosset, NY, and Long Island Jewish Hospital, Queens, NY, when the pandemic was at its peak in New York. Dr. Fitzpatrick completed her general surgery residency on active duty in the U.S. Air Force at Wilford Hall Medical Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Fitzpatrick’s residency, along with her training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, helped her fight COVID-19. “It provided me with a solid foundation in the principles of critical care,” she said. Dr. Fitzpatrick’s message to those on the front lines: “Celebrate your success and take care of each other."

Dr. Fitzpatrick shares her COVID-19 experiences in a 10-day digital diary on Agencia EFE: https://bit.ly/DoctorDiary
