Nawara Alawa, M.D. ’18, M.P.H. ’18, is in her final year of residency in general pediatrics in Houston, TX and currently applying for PICU fellowship. She continues to frequently wash her hands, wear a mask, and be there for her patients and families, while being mindful of how she interacts with her community. "We opened up a little too quickly and we're seeing the effects of that now," Dr. Alawa said. "Our case rates are rapidly rising and we're hitting our ICU capacities in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world."
She is eager to be on the other side of the pandemic. "We've learned so much about the virus and how to treat it, but we have also learned about the importance of gratitude in uncertain times."
