We thank Sara B. Cortes, M.D. ’08, who is serving on the front lines as a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Jackson Health System. Dr. Cortes selected “educate” as the word that comes to mind during this pandemic. “From our own children, to our patients and community, and to ourselves in the medical community, this pandemic has changed the way we educate,” said Dr. Cortes, “We are learning every day, which was one lesson driven into me during my training at the Miller School of Medicine. But we must also educate and refocus our communities to the facts and best practices in this time.”
