Murat Erkoc, an associate professor in the College of Engineering’s Department of Industrial Engineering and director of the UM Center for Advanced Supply Chain Management, has been elected to the position of president-elect for the Logistics & Supply Chain (LSC) Division of the Institute for Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE).

Erkoc has been serving in the LSC division as an elected board member since 2016. As a board member, he has been a conference track chair for the division at IISE’s annual conferences. His term as the president-elect will begin on June 1, 2019.

“This is a significant international recognition for me,” Erkoc says. “The IISE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the Industrial and Systems Engineering profession.”

According to the IISE website, the LSC Division brings together members from academia, industry and government who share a common interest in topics related to research and practice of the industrial engineering discipline.

The LSC division is designed to provide a forum of knowledge sharing, networking and professional development for IISE members in the area of logistics and supply chain.

Members of the division collaborate with IISE to advance the institute’s mission, which includes developing, maintaining and disseminating a body of technical knowledge in the area of logistics and supply chain. The division also serves to educate division members by sharing cutting edge research, state of the art practice, and current tools and techniques of logistics and supply chain.

“I’m fortunate to have served in several IISE leadership positions,” Erkoc says. “I love the industrial and systems engineering profession and I look forward to the potential opportunity to work again with the IISE staff.”

Founded in 1948, the IISE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial and system engineer. It is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research and development of industrial and systems engineering.
