Honors Convocation 2019 Recognizes Faculty, Student Excellence

On April 10, the University of Miami (UM) College of Engineering (CoE) honored the academic accomplishments of more than 580 brilliant students at the 2019 Honors Convocation. The occasion recognizes students on the Dean’s List, Provost’s and President’s honor rolls, Iron Arrow and other various individual, organization and department achievements.

Following registration and networking with Sebastian the Ibis, attendees were welcomed by CoE Dean Jean-Pierre Bardet who offered heartfelt congratulations to the students before introducing UM Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Jeffrey L. Duerk.

Duerk ended his remarks by praising the College for transforming engineering education stating, “I applaud (Dean Bardet) and the College for really applying pedagogical changes and thinking how best to teach our students today.”

Bardet stated, “This year, nearly 40% of our students made the Dean’s list, and many of them also made the President’s and Provosts’ honor rolls.”

“Your dedication makes UM one of the most dynamic and exemplary universities. We are proud of your accomplishments and wish you continued success in all your endeavors,” Bardet concluded.
