If you’re wondering what you can do with your ’Cane Card, check out this comprehensive guide to learn what you have access to on campus.
Access granted: how to use your ’Cane Card

Whether you are a student, faculty, or staff member, the ’Cane Card is your official on-campus identification card at the University of Miami. Having a ’Cane Card is more than a required form of identification while on campus—it’s an essential part of the UM experience. The ’Cane Card provides specific access to not only quell your hunger pangs but also enjoy discounts on- and off-campus and more.

Get fit and well

With a membership, students, faculty, and staff have access to the Herbert Wellness Center on the Coral Gables campus and the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center on the medical campus.

Employees can join the SHAPE-UP program to earn a 20 percent discount on the cost of membership.

Explore the great indoors

Think of your ’Cane Card as your key to on-campus offices and buildings that you have approved access to, including study rooms and organization suites.

Students: your ’Cane Card also gains you free admission to various events hosted by Student Affairs and student organizations each semester, from concerts to comedy shows.

Swipe for a meal

For a flexible, economic way to dine on campus, purchase a meal plan. Student, faculty, and staff can swipe their card to enjoy the buffet-style variety serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the residential dining halls, located at Hecht-Stanford and Mahoney-Pearson residential colleges.

Go to a game

No matter the sport, you can cheer our Miami Hurricanes to a victory with discounts on tickets for UM Athletics events (home games are covered for students in the athletic fee).

Access University Libraries

Use your ’Cane Card to access each of the University’s libraries, check out library materials, borrow from the off-campus E-Access service, or use study rooms.

Print responsibly

In an effort to encourage responsible student printing and copying, GreenU developed UPrint, a wireless and networked printing solution that gives students access to wireless black and white and color printing, copying, and scanning.

The services are available using the computers at any of the libraries or computer labs on the Coral Gables and medical campuses. Students are allocated 130 UPrint credits per academic year for printing personal student material.

Visit $5 walk-in clinics

For employees with eligible benefits, walk-in visits at UHealth Clinics at Walgreens and Healthy ’Canes Employee Clinics are just $5. These clinics also offer free annual physicals, well woman exams, and select immunizations.

Students have access to the Student Health Service and Counseling Center.

Marvel at the Lowe Art Museum

Use your ’Cane Card for free entry, where you can marvel at art from around the world and view rotating student exhibitions located on the Coral Gables campus.

Save around town

From discounted Metrorail tickets to special deals at local restaurants and vendors, you can enjoy reduced fares when you present your ’Cane Card around town.
