Giving Day: The future is ours

The University of Miami will host its seventh annual Giving Day on Tuesday, March 31, bringing together alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends for a 24-hour celebration of community and philanthropy.  Since its debut in 2019, Giving Day has raised more than $19 million—demonstrating the power of collective giving to drive meaningful change across our three campuses.

Giving Day 2026 invites Canes everywhere to invest in the talented students and impactful programs that will define the University's second century. This year's event is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting yet. Donors can get in on the action early, compete in leaderboard challenges, earn exclusive University merchandise during Power Hours, and take part in a brand-new on-site activation on the Coral Gables campus. More than $5 million in matching gifts are waiting to be unlocked with matches and challenges available throughout the day, amplifying the impact of every contribution.

Early Giving launched on March 5, in recognition of Miami’s 305 Day, allowing donors to contribute ahead of the official campaign. Donors who make a qualifying gift of $40 or more during the early period will receive a limited-edition pair of University-branded Hurricanes socks while supplies last.

An on-site celebration on the Coral Gables campus will take place on March 31 from noon to 2 p.m. Throughout the day, leaderboards and donor challenges will encourage friendly competition among schools, programs, and student organizations. On-site activities at Lakeside Patio include live coloring of a Giving Day wall, opprotunities for students to vote for funds that they believe deserve extra support, and giveaways.

At the heart of this year's effort are the students themselves. Scholarships supported through Giving Day help open doors for Canes who might not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue their ambitions at the U.

Challenges are made possible by alumni and philanthropic leaders, including President’s Council member Bob Mendelson, B.B.A. ’56, whose support will help fuel onsite initiatives and power hours that recognize top-performing funds and organizations based on donor participation.

Alumni, families, and friends can create their own matching gifts or challenges directly on the Giving Day website. Through the use of these tools, you can inspire others to give and help multiply the effect of every contribution. Gifts of any size are welcome and can be directed to any area of the University.

Early giving is now open. Keep an eye out for updates on our website, join us for the fun, and share your support using the hashtag #OneDayOneU.
