Situated perfectly within South Florida’s diverse and vibrant economy, the School of Architecture and its curriculum centers around creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking in order to build a stronger foundation for learning and success. It provides students with access to a booming market and a pipeline of diverse projects and professions. U-SoA students are able to seize on these opportunities and form meaningful relationships.

The program focuses on providing education that may be focused on construction management and the ability to be nimble and adapt to a plethora of changes — anticipated and unanticipated. Tackling things like urbanism, sustainability and resiliency has contributed to a curriculum that is truly integrated in its design and structure.

Until modern times, the Architect as the Master Builder played a key role in managing the means and processes of a building project on site without discord between design and construction, according to Professor Armando Montero.

“Project complexity and specialization has increasingly distanced the architect from the construction process and the craft of building,” said Montero. Designs are not always rooted in a consciousness of constructability which becomes a source of conflict and inefficiency. At the Master of Construction Management, we consistently create a platform for change.”

Innovative courses like Integrated Project Delivery provide students with the knowledge and skillsets to integrate forces that define the built environment, manage teams, and create synergies between building systems and architectural form.

Through these courses, word of mouth, and students actively playing a role in contributing to projects in their communities, the school continually receives interest from prospective students across the globe.
