Porto Academy Visiting Kahn & Venturi Scott Brown is an upcoming summer school focused on the legacy of the legendary architects Denise Scott Brown, Louis Kahn, and Robert Venturi. The workshop studios and lectures will take place at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia including site-visits to the master architect’s buildings. Confirmed workshop leaders / lecturers at this point are Denise Scott Brown (VSBA), Martino Stierli (Chief Curator MoMA New York), MOS Architects, SO-IL(Florian Idenburg), Winka Dubbeldam (Chair of Architecture University of Pennsylvania), and Sauter von Moos.
Porto Academy is an independent entity exclusively dedicated to the discipline of Architecture. It is deeply concerned about authorship and it proposes a free apprenticeship-system grounded on ambitious architects with great intellectual value. It was born out of a need to push forward the discipline into the practice proposing a complementary learning experience based on people’s singularity and away from established rules, dogmas and ideas - always trying to dilute borders and bringing people together.
