In December 2017, U-SoA Professor Jean-François Lejeune met with Professors Rabinowicz, Simon and Deprez, faculty members at the University of Brussels’ Faculté d'Architecture La Cambre Horta. The meeting resulted in a joint workshop program to be held at University of Miami School of Architecture, during the last week of March 2018. With the Spring ’18 semester, all U-SoA students will be able to participate in what will be the beginning of a multi-year studio program called Micromegas Lab/Workshop of Urban Acupuncture that already includes Seoul, Tokyo, Sarajevo, Shanghai, Casablanca, Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, and Hong Kong. The first to be organized in the Americas, the March workshop titled MIAMI SHORTCUTS will have a double dimension: cinematographic and urbanistic. The workshop is open to all students at the University of Miami School of Architecture and those enrolled in Professor Lejeune’s Cinema and Architecture course will participate in the workshop, as part of the course. Professor Lejeune also met with faculty members at the TU Delft Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. The meeting sealed opportunities and upcoming initiatives to implement design studios and research projects between the two schools. With a focus on Infrastructures for the 2018-2019 academic year, the work will highlight strategies to deal with global warming and sea-level rise, research on mapping, and water-related economy such as the South Florida port infrastructures.
