Many people who work outside of higher education think that colleges and universities across the country shut down during the summer months. But we at the University of Miami know that some of the most engaging research and academic initiatives take place during these “quieter” months.

If UM faculty/staff are in need of summer housing for non-UM student interns or research assistants, the Department of Housing & Residential Life’s (HRL) Summer Intern Housing Program is an available option.

Finding summer housing can be tricky for students, especially for those who are coming to Miami for the first time. Rather than sifting through hundreds of ads in search of a summer sublet or getting stuck in a lease for longer than they require, the Summer Intern Housing Program offers flexible move-in/move-out dates to both undergraduate and graduate student interns.

Offering a wide range of complimentary amenities including cable and internet as well as a fully furnished room or apartment, student interns can take advantage of UM’s inclusive residential experience. In addition to offering budget-friendly accommodations in one of UM’s on-campus residential areas, the Summer Intern Housing Program also sponsors engaging events and activities so interns can explore Miami while meeting fellow students from across the country.

Interns have the ability to apply and pay for housing themselves or HRL can work with your department to cover the costs associated with living on campus during the summer.

Visit www.miami.edu/internhousing for more information on summer intern housing, including rates and complete eligibility information.

For departments who plan to hire current UM students during the summer months, HRL also offers on-campus housing for those students, regardless of their enrollment in summer courses. Visit www.miami.edu/housing/signup for more information about summer housing for UM students.
