Flaunting new features that redefine the student residential experience, Lakeside Village offers something for all members of the University community. In addition to bed space for 1,115 students, the 12-acre village boasts a multitude of spaces aimed at activating and engaging the southern side of campus. From indoor spaces like meditation and study rooms to outdoor areas like sand volleyball courts and fitness circuits, the new community elevates life on campus.

“The goal was to create Lakeside Village as a destination in and of itself for all members of the campus community,” said Tyler Rodibaugh, assistant director of housing operations and services. “Since successfully opening to residents last August, we have continued to add to all that Lakeside Village has available for both resident students and for all ’Canes.”

In addition to the Outdoor Adventures center that features a climbing wall and outdoor programming, below are new spaces available for students, faculty, staff, and guests.

GoldenTouch Haircuts and Blow-Dry Salon

The newest retail location at Lakeside Village is the University’s own salon: GoldenTouch Haircuts and Blow-Dry. The salon offers unisex grooming services, including men’s and women’s cuts along with manicures and pedicures. Serving as another self-care outlet on campus, the salon provides an added convenience for students, faculty, and staff at the heart of campus. Online appointments are available.

The UPS Store

Located next to Outdoor Adventures near Lakeside Village’s sand volleyball courts the retail outlet, The UPS Store offers all students, faculty, and staff a range of packing, shipping, storing, and printing services.  More information, including a full menu of services, is available online.

Dining

New restaurants introduced last spring are now in full swing and continue to be popular with students, faculty, and staff. Located at the end of the Fate Bride along Lake Osceola’s shoreline, Smoothie King offers students a fresh dining option with an exhaustive menu and plenty of custom options for drinks and meals. Daybreak, a new initiative of University Dining, is an all-day breakfast option that sports a sweet and savory menu all made with a waffle iron. Students can choose between classic options like plain waffles and egg sandwiches and more innovative ones like zucchini grilled cheese and chicken quesadillas. View restaurant hours on UM Dining's website.

Meeting and event spaces

Lakeside Village serves as a flexible and unique meeting and event venue on campus. With an open-concept expo hall, dynamic multipurpose room, a 200-seat auditorium, and plenty of outdoor areas, Lakeside Village has already hosted numerous student organizations and departmental events this semester. Groups interested in holding their event at Lakeside Village should contact the Office of Conference Services at conferences@miami.edu.
