Beyond Online: On-Campus Networking Opportunities for MBA Students

The MBA program at UOnline is taught 100% online. However, students don’t have to sacrifice the networking opportunities they would receive if they attended the program on-campus. UOnline uniquely offers several in-person networking opportunities for students to make valuable connections with classmates, faculty members, and industry influencers.

On-Campus Orientation

UOnline’s MBA program begins with an optional on-campus orientation for students. Students are invited to campus for a weekend to meet classmates and professors as well as receive advice for using UOnline’s virtual learning platform.

This is a great opportunity to network with classmates who have previous professional experience at industry titans such as Deloitte, Booz Allan Hamilton, Siemens, Philosophy.com, and Bloomberg. Highlights from this year’s orientation include:

Lunch with Faculty Members

Recruitment Session with Representatives from the Toppel Career Center

Networking Reception with Students and Faculty

The Online MBA Miami Residency

During the online MBA program, students are given the opportunity to take an accelerated class for one week on-campus. During this week, students will be fully immersed in the on-campus culture and given the opportunity to network with students, faculty, and the University of Miami community.

Industry Conferences

Throughout their program, UOnline MBA students may be invited to several, industry-related conferences. These conferences are located throughout the country, giving students the opportunity to network with industry insiders and influencers.

Last year, several UOnline students attended the World Business Forum in New York City. The conference, which lasted two days, gave students the opportunity to listen to speakers who ranged from business leaders to change-makers. Additionally, students were able to network with fellow attendees from all over the world during session breaks. UOnline student and attendee Dan Gracey described his experience saying,

“I’d never been to a forum like this before, so I didn’t know what to expect. The speakers were so good, so engaging, and the crowd was inspired and motivated.”

Networking at UOnline is not limited to on-campus events. Students are given access to each other and faculty in the virtual classroom. Many faculty members become mentors to MBA students and students are able to lean on each other for support during the program.
