The faculty who teach the University of Miami’s online course come from different backgrounds and are experts in vastly different fields, they all have one key character trait in common: they share a deep sense of responsibility to equipping students with the tools needed to be successful. Meet Professor George Korniotis, Ph.D.
Professor George Korniotis, Ph.D. uses his uniquely global perspective to guide future leaders of the financial industry. Originally from Greece, Professor Korniotis attended the University of Cyprus where he graduated as valedictorian. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University where he was mentored by American Nobel Laureate, economist, academic Robert Shiller, Ph.D.
A University of Miami faculty member since 2010, Professor Korniotis previously taught at top University including Yale and Notre Dame. He also served as an Economist in the Risk Analysis Section of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. from 2006 2010. He has been published in several academic journals, serving as an expert on the tops ranging from investment psychology to investment risk and prediction.
As a University of Miami professor, Dr. Korniotis received the Provost Research Award in 2011, 2013 and 2014. And was recognized by the MBA and MS Finance class of 2015 for teaching the University of Miami, School of Business’s best elective course. He currently teaches Intermediate Corporate Finance and Investments for the University of Miami’s online Masters of Science in Finance program.
In the classroom, Dr. Korniotis incorporates his global professional and academic experiences to give students a first-hand approach to navigating corporate finance. Ensuring his students are prepared for their future endeavors, he focuses on teaching the technical skills that employers are seeking.

In his online course, Dr. Korniotis has adapted the curriculum from his on-campus class into an online format. Students receive the same instruction as on-campus students including weekly office hours with Professor Korniotis that take place online.
“We are giving students the foundation to pick any career they want in finance. We are exposing them to everything they will encounter in corporate finance.”
