Meet Professor Robert Plant, Ph.D.
Professor Robert Plant, Ph.D. is a leading expert on the integration of technology with strategic business practices. A University of Miami faculty member since 1988, Professor Plant serves as the department chairman for the University of Miami’s Department of Business Technology. He is a frequent contributor to many leading business publications including The Harvard Business Review, providing insight on the evolving role of technology in business and leadership. He is also a member of The Wall Street Journal’s Expert Leadership Group, contributing bi-weekly articles on the topics of technology issues and emergent trends in technology.
Plant received his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from The Universal of Liverpool, England, and studied computation at Oxford University before that. As a professor, Plant offer’s a uniquely global perspective on business and technology holding teaching and research positions at universities around the world including, Templeton College, Oxford University, England; Universidad Gabriela Mistral, Santiago, Chile; Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and Wuhan University, P.R. China.
At the University of Miami, Professor Plant has taught courses on Management Information Systems, Entrepreneurship and Technology Start-Ups, Internet Strategy, Systems Management and Design, and Artificial Intelligence. An expert in his field, he has written many books on technology and strategy including texts eCommerce: Formulation of Strategyand An Executive’s Guide to Information Technology: Principles, Business Models, and Terminology. He currently teaches Strategy and Information Technology for the University of Miami’s online MBA program.
