The faculty who teach the University of Miami’s online courses come from different backgrounds and are experts in vastly different fields, but they all have one key character trait in common: they share a deep sense of responsibility for equipping students with the tools needed to be successful. In a special series of blog posts, we will be putting a spotlight on faculty members from different UOnline graduate programs. Meet Professor Seth Levine, CPA.
Professor Seth Levine, CPA, a University of Miami alumnus and faculty member since 1990, put his decades of experience to work every day preparing tomorrow’s CPAs for successful accounting careers. Originally from Long Island, New York, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami in 1983, his Master in Professional Accounting in 1985, and his Master of Business Administration in 1989.
Professor Levine began his professional career as an auditor and consultant with Price Waterhouse in 1985, and he became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida in 1987. He joined Arthur Andersen as their audit administrator and served as their liaison with Human Resources from 1989 to 1995. From 1995 to 2001, he served as the CFO of a family-owned import and export agribusiness with farms and factories in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses at the University of Miami, Professor Levine has also served as a senior faculty member for the Becker CPA Review Course since 1989. In the classroom as well as in his online classes, he tries his best to be engaging and to remember what it was like when he was a student. He typically speaks to students one-on-one several times over the semester to make sure they really understand the materials.
“I love teaching students more about money and more about investing, which is really what accounting is about.”
As a UOnline faculty member, Professor Seth Levine, CPA, is there for his students and dedicated to their success inside and outside of the classroom –a trait he shares with the rest of his colleagues.
“We are trying to facilitate learning and make it a joy for students. We really are there for you.”
