The faculty who teach the University of Miami’s online courses come from different backgrounds and are experts in vastly different fields, but they all have one key character trait in common: they share a deep sense of responsibility to equip students with the tools needed to be successful. In a new series of blog posts, we will be putting a spotlight on faculty members from different UOnline graduate programs. First up, Professor Windy Dees, Ph.D.
Professor Dees is an expert on event sponsorships, marketing, and branding, a frequent contributor to sport and tourism research journals, a well-respected sports industry influencer, and avid tweeter. Professor Dees ensures her online students receive the same quality of education that can be found on-campus. She frequently engages with students via the online learning portal and hosts online office hours. She also encourages students to visit the campus in-person for events such as student orientation or the Miami Sport Industry Conference.
“Dr. Dees' classes are unique, in that she communicates with each student as if you are in her classroom. From my personal experience, my emails were all answered within 24 hours with most being answered the same day. In Dr. Dees' courses, students just don't receive grades, students receive knowledge and constructive feedback on ways to improve.Dr. Dees definitely pushes her students to utilize critical thinking skills.” –Stephen Bashore, graduate Master’s in Sport Administration, General Manager at Buffalo Run Casino and Resort.
