Now that you have decided to elevate your career by pursuing a master’s degree, it is important to determine how you will fund your endeavor. The University of Miami’s online program, UOnline, offers several options to help students fund their degree.
Scholarships
All accepted UOnline students are eligible for a variety of scholarships. Scholarship amounts vary by program and awarded at the discretion of the University of Miami. Students may be eligible for more than one scholarship based upon their qualifications. We recommend all students inquire about scholarships during the application process to help estimate the cost and affordability of their program. Potential scholarship opportunities include:
- Merit-Based Scholarship –Scholarship amounts are determined by GPA, minimum post-bachelor degree work requirements, and/or high GMAT/GRE scores.
- Military Scholarship – Available to all active duty U.S military and veterans. Amounts may vary by program.
- University of Miami Alumni Scholarship – Available to students who completed their undergraduate or graduate degree at the University of Miami. Amounts may vary by program.
- University of Miami Employee Scholarship - University of Miami employees are eligible for an additional scholarship in addition to those available to all students. There may be tax consequences.
Financial Aid
Federal student aid is a part of the U.S. Department of Education and provides students with grants and loans. To be eligible for federal student aid, you must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Students who wish to apply for federal aid must have credit in good standing or no credit history. UOnline recommends students apply for financial aid as soon as they receive acceptance into the program of their choice. If you are interested in applying for financial aid, you can find the FAFSA application here. The deadline for financial aid varies by semester. Students can find the FAFSA application deadline for their start date here.
Private Loans
Students who do not qualify for federal student aid may be eligible for private loans financed by private lenders. Most private loans require a particular credit score for approval without a co-borrower and have a variety of options for repayment.
Funding for Military Members
The University of Miami offers several additional funding options for current and former military members in addition to military scholarships. The University, which is a 2017 Military Friendly School, honors several assistance programs including Veteran Affairs Education Programs, the Post 9/11 GI Bill, the Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty, the Montgomery GI Bill, and Selected Reserve Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance.
Additionally, the University of Miami participates in the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship Program, which awards veterans-only scholarships that the VA will match-up to eligible students. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill that allows veterans to attend private schools and graduate programs costing more than the state tuition cap. Please note the scholarship does not apply to classes during the summer sessions.
